We have been full of busy in Year 2/3 and were looking forward to sharing our learning in our class assembly. Although it may have been postponed, here is an insight into some of the wonderful things we have been up to... Year 2 have had fun exploring the work of Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. He was famous for creating portraits using fruit and vegetables. Take a look at our amazing compositions! Year 2 had a fantastic morning constructing working circuits and building lighthouses with their parents and grandparents. They even completed the added challenge of including a switch. Great team work! A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended - the lighthouses look AMAZING! We hope you enjoyed the session as much as we did. A HUGE well done to Year 2. You performed 'Meerkat Mail' with great confidence and enthusiasm today. We are very proud of you all!
Well done and a huge thank you to all the children and their families who took part in our vegan baking competition for Anti-Bullying Week. The cakes looked delicious!!! Congratulations to Evan and Faith on your winning design. Photos will now be forwarded to the Educate and Celebrate website so that you can vote for your favourite! Year 2 had a great time participating in this morning's duathlon - in their spotty 'Children in need' sportswear. Well done everyone! We have had a fabulous day investigating habitats at Gibside. First of all, we explored an area of woodland on our minibeast safari. Then, we headed over to the Lily Pond for our pond dipping activity. After lunch, we ventured down to the West Wood to build our own shelters (dens). Once our challenges had been completed we visited Strawberry Castle (park), before climbing back on the bus and heading back to school. What a busy day! We have had an exciting first day! Year 2 received a special delivery, containing a letter and three tasks from the main character in their new class book. The children worked together to solve the mystery and to unravel the clues in order to work out what the new book would be. We look forward to sharing our learning with you, as we go on an adventure to ‘Where the Wild Things are’. Great team work!
We had a lovely morning working together to investigate the problem of leaping frogs! Thank you to everyone who attended, we hope you had as much fun as we did. See you again soon! |
