All the best Mr Lockey and Mrs Robson
Well it's the end of the year and we have covered so much ground in Year 3. We have all learned so much and grown up considerably. As your teacher I'm very proud of the progress each and everyone of you have made in your own individual way. Whether it has been seeing you grow in confidence, learn a new skill, find out something you didn't know, celebrate your own success or the success of others, visit a new place that excited you, share a special moment with a friend in the class ... or many other happy times ... you all deserve to celebrate achieving your best in something this year. So pat yourself on the back, put a smile on your face, enjoy your holidays and come back in September ready to show Year 4 exactly what you have to offer.

The forest seemed alive as………
The rainforest was alive as nature can be. Animals hunting, spiders weaving webs and trees swaying. The water calmly drifting and it sounds like crickets beating, birds tweeting and frogs croaking. There will be so many trees blocking the sun and bushes will be a good place for small creatures to hide in the understory. At night the forest will be dark. Clouds will block stars’ light so that makes it quite dark. The light from fire flies, the Moon, some stars will be visible and there will be some light reflecting from the water. Wow, thanks Ewan! Congratulation on being the first to enter the 100 Word Challenge from Year 3. Keep up this level of writing and you will be a star in Year 4. I have enjoyed reading your work recently, the picture below is what I imagined when I read your work. Unfortunately the website isn't accepting new posts as it's the end of term. They have missed out on a cracker for your first attempt. Sorry for the late post but things have been ever so busy in school today. I spoke to the class about what they can do homework wise over the final 2 weeks and promised I would post it on the class blog with links.
http://fivesc.net/ The prompt for this fortnight is simply " ...THE BIG HOLE ..." - what does this make you think of? Can you use your imagination to create 5 sentences based upon this idea? Have a go. http://100wc.net/ For those children who feel they are ready for a little more challenge in their writing try this link to the final prompt of the year " .... The forest seemed alive as....." - This one is a great chance to use some of the ideas we have discussed in our Brazil enrichment topic. Be creative and explore those sentence openers, connectives and different types of punctuation. As ever you can bring handwritten sentences into school or email me on [email protected] In numeracy we have been looking at division (and some multiplication) in order to get us ready to delve into the world of fractions one final time. Have a little look at these links for something to help you explore these areas outside of school. http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?a=activity12 http://resources.oswego.org/games/SumSense/sumdiv.html http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?b=maths/division http://resources.oswego.org/games/fractionflags/fractionflags.html - This game is a great way to explore fractions in a fun and practical way. Finally can I say to all of the children who regularly complete the homework set without making excuses - THANK YOU. You are taking responsibility for your own learning and this is why YOU are making progress. Parents, a big thank you to you also, for your patience and support throughout the year. Your children do benefit from that little extra time and support you are offering them! Thanks Mr Lockey I was so proud of all of the children in Year 3 this week. Using their work from our Brazil enrichment theme they have produced a wonderful assembly for the whole school to enjoy. I hope all the parents were proud of how brave the children were to stand up in front of the whole school and perform. There were some wonderful performances.
Days like today really bring home to me what being a class teacher is all about. We have certainly made progress as members of our school community this year in class three. Well done everyone. |
